WebGuard Privacy Policy

WebGuard is a browser-security extension operated for an authorized Nueva Ecija Cyber Response Team pilot. Its single purpose is to detect and block configured web threats and report security incidents to the authorized WebGuard management server.

Information handled

WebGuard may process visited URLs and domains, navigation and download metadata, threat category and severity, timestamps, browser-generated incident identifiers, account name and email, role, authentication status, and security support messages. Passwords and one-time codes are used only for authentication and are not stored by the extension as readable text.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide threat detection, blocking, incident reporting, account security, authorized investigation, system reliability, and support. WebGuard does not sell user data and does not use it for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated profiling.

Sharing and service providers

Security records may be visible to authorized WebGuard administrators and response staff. Data may be processed by the configured hosting, database, and email or SMS delivery providers solely to operate WebGuard. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to investigate abuse or security incidents.

Security and retention

Data sent to the hosted service uses HTTPS. Access to management records requires authenticated, role-based access. Records are retained only for the pilot, operational, security, and audit periods established by the authorized organization and may be deleted by an administrator when no longer needed.

User choice

Monitoring is disabled until the user accepts the in-extension privacy notice. Users can pause protection from the extension popup. Pilot participants may ask the survey coordinator or WebGuard administrator to access or delete their account and associated pilot data.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
